S&S ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS: 4TUNATE NSM: Where did your name originate from? 4tunate: Before I discovered my current name 4tunate my original name was Baby Boy. I was 17 years old at the time, I was writing a song. I said the word fortunate and I always considered myself fortunate because both parents were involved in my life and supported me. So, I like the way it sounded and it stuck to me so I knew it would be the perfect name. I told my dad and got his opinion, and we spent the rest of the time trying to come up with a unique spelling. We figured it had a good ring for the name so we decided to use the number 4 in the spelling. NSM: So how old are you? 4tunate: I am 19 years old; my birthday was on December 25th. NSM: How long have you been in the game? 4tunate: I was 10 years old when I first got introduced to writing material, producing records, and doing concerts. NSM: So what city are you representing? 4tunate: I moved around a lot as a kid, so I could never represent one spot so I represent all of Texas. NSM: What do you like to do in your spare time? 4tunate: Since I got into music real deep that is where I spend most of my time. Besides music, I don’t really get into video games a lot but I love watching King of the Hill and I like movies. NSM: So you are a local artist, where can your fans expect to see you perform? 4tunate: A lot of my shows take place in the Metroplex, because a lot of the clubs either get shut down or stop doing the open mic segments. I post information about my shows on the Facebook.com and Myspace.com/iam4tunate. NSM: It is so common in the game for Rap/ R&B beef. What is your outlook? 4tunate: I never take what people say personal because the guy never knows me, but if the beef is worth it address it. If I do address the beef, I would respond to it by being bold and clever. They would look like less of an artist because they hear the song and don’t know you are talking about them. Obviously, you must be doing something right if someone has to do a beef record. So why entertain the matter. NSM: Name artists in the game that you look up to? 4tunate: I like Wayne of course because I like Wayne’s mind set, Busta Rhymes, Drake, and Lupe Fiasco. NSM: Who do you look forward to working with in the game? 4tunate: I would like to work with Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot, because they don’t get the credit they deserve. Their styles are different and if you listen to their records you can hear that they are in there own lanes. I know no one can imitate my style if so they will look stupid. NSM: So the south is considered as the snap your finger genre of music? How do you view your music? What makes it different? 4tunate: Because I moved around a lot, I saw a variety of things as a kid. I am versatile so I feel that I can’t sound like Texas artist although I was born in Texas. I want to reach the country so I do the Rock and R&B and don’t want to be limited to just the state of Texas. NSM: The ladies will inquire are you dating or looking for a special lady? 4tunate: I am dating and she is real good to me. NSM: Do you have any words of wisdom or shout outs? 4tunate: Anybody trying to make it in the game be patient, don’t rush. Make sure that you learnyour craft and master your craft. Learn the business part of the game, there is more music than just recording. ~ I want to give shout outs to my managers Big Steve and Kim Archie, they are my team. ~ Shout out my little brother, who one day will be my future assistant manager ~Shout out to Michael Brown and his older brother Jerry that has been around since childhood.
