We are the Nu South and we keep an “anything goes” attitude towards topics such as relationships, music, sports, fashion, politics, education, and entertainment! We speak our minds through words and hearten our readers to do the same. Not bound by tradition or what the text books say we should be. This is journalism on a brand Nu level!
We represent a myriad of sweet and sassy, bold and dynamic writers, street specialists, poets, college-trained businessmen and women, artists, entrepreneurs, activists, educators, and just plain ole’ good people!
The idea for Nu South Magazine was created by Jason Richmond in 2007 with the aid of a few close colleagues. He saw a need for Nu South as a way to kill the negative typical stereotypes about the South and to create a conduit for talented, business- savvy professionals to display their passions and also become educated, informed and entertained without sugar-coated antics. Nu South always tells it like it is!
Richmond lay to rest several ideas such as creating a print publication and obtaining publishers before he came up with the master plan. The online masterpiece came to life on April 8, 2009. Since that date, Nu South Magazine has attracted the attention of nearly 150,000 readers; that number continues to grow every single day.
Based out of Little Rock, Arkansas Nu South Magazine has established territory in Dallas, Miami, Montgomery, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia.
Our mission is to revolutionize, challenge and enlighten the minds of our peers to explore and freely express diverse ideas, values, and topics of discussion, culture and art forms online. To fuel entrepreneurial initiatives. To dispel stereotypes about The South by highlighting our most educated, professional and sometimes underrated, talented men and women of all hues and backgrounds who reside on the most fertile ground in the U.S.
Nu South Magazine will become the #1 online magazine in America by not only serving as voice to those quieted by mainstream media, but by donating to charities and non-profit organizations, creating a scholarship fund for under-privileged youth and through volunteer work and mentorship. Our readership will transform the online media market. Nu South Magazine- “It’s More than a Magazine… It’s a Movement”
